John Marrinan Photography

Welcome to John Marrinan Photography

I hope you enjoy the images I have created.  The images are from all over the United States and parts of Canada. The vast majority of my images are ones that I have taken right here close to home.

Definitely go to all the exotic and interesting places you would like to take pictures, but don't neglect your own backyard. Very close to you are plenty of interesting and unusual photo opportunities.  These opportunities are only limited by your imagination.

The website currently divides the images into three galleries: black and white, color, and art. The images are a combination of scanned negatives and digital images.  The negatives were shot primarily with a Nikon F1.  The digital images were shot with a five megapixel Nikon 5000, Nikon D70 or my newest camera a Nikon D 200 SLR.

All of my recent work is done in digital. I was like a lot of photographers when digital first came about; I could not imagine digital photography as my primary media.

Digital quality has obviously improved dramatically over the past few years. The improved quality has allowed digital to move into a more mainstream media with photographers everywhere.

The improved quality tied with digital's ease of post-shot manipulation and printing makes it easy for me to do all of the work myself. Film will never be my primary media again. The digital darkroom gives me the total control over the final image that was lacking when I sent my negatives off somewhere to be printed.

The images in the color and black and white galleries have been created with relatively straightforward adjustments in Photoshop.

I hope you enjoy my work. Please check back from time to time to see my new photos and galleries. I am planning galleries that are dedicated to local images only that I hope to post in the next few months.

I am available for location work or product shots. Please give me a call.
